Pflugerville and SouthWest Water to extend discussions; SouthWest agrees to no rate increase for Windermere Utility Customers
The City of Pflugerville and SouthWest Water Company, parent company of Windermere Utility Company, have agreed to a year extension to discussions on water and sewer services for 14,500 people in northwestern Pflugerville. The Pflugerville City Council will consider action to extend the existing April 2012 agreement at the April 9 City Council Meeting at Pflugerville City Hall, 100 E. Main Street, at 7 p.m. If passed by Council, the City of Pflugerville and SouthWest Water Company will extend the April 2012 agreement through April 9, 2014, so the parties may work through terms of a possible long-term agreement. Additionally, SouthWest Water has committed not to seek a rate increase for Windermere Utility customers through April 9, 2014.
"The city's recommendation is for Council to extend the current collaborative agreement with SouthWest Water Company," City Manager Brandon Wade said. "The extension locks in another year of rate stability and security for our residents without any additional payment by the City. We are encouraged by productive meetings with SouthWest Water Company, and believe an opportunity for collaboration of a long-term workable solution exists." (Full Press Release)
Pflugerville sends letter to Windermere Utility Customers
On December 7, 2012 SouthWest Water Company sent a letter to Windermere Utility Customers, and the city of Pflugerville has composed a response to clarify several assumptions made about city municipal systems and to update residents on the current SouthWest Water Company negotiations. The letter was emailed to residents and mailed to all citizens of Pflugerville in the SouthWest Water utility area that receive garbage bills from the city as the city has contact information for them.
